Jazz in the Domain last night was slide-guitar-tastic!

Aside from the terrible pre-show entertainment a good night was had by all. Whooda thought a park full of Sydneyites getting stuck into their red, cheese and pate would want to hear ten people compete in the Whistling Down Under competition? Even Men At Work would havebeen embarrassed!

A slight learning curve related to uploading LOTS of photos and overwrite functions has meant that artistic crowd shots and experiments with GIO souvenier torches and the ABC logo are lost forever.

Bob Brosman and Jeff Lang were the musical highlight of the evening (closely followed by a flatmate jam session in drag that took to the streets). Bob is a jaw-droppingly-incredible guitarist with a razor sharp wit and a great stage presence. Jeff's not too bad either. It was, however, Bob's banter in between songs that had me reaching for my notebook and pen. Three quotes were particularly pertinent (and not necessarily the views of sponsors, Channel Nine).

On the privatisation of... everything:
"The one thing they can never fully privatise is music... they can't privatise the space between your ears"
On the USA:
"A country where most people don't speak a second language being run by a guy who doesn't have a first language"

And my personal favourite:
"Remember... People who go out to hear live music are not only more intelligent, they're better looking"

I'll see all you beautiful people at the Annandale tonight then?
